Ancient Islamic Bone "gaming piece"
This old gaming piece is no longer available as it is on HOLD. It may, however, become available, so if you want it email us.
Cylindrical, slightly tapered, hollow bone “gaming piece”, with incised bands and circles.
Similiar to Hittite compass inscribed pieces.
The bone has been filled with a “ceramic like” packing, and the top sculpted to a nipple.
Has obviously, been buried and still retains some residual mud.
The “golden” bone has a dark grey staining in places.
In good condition, including some smoothed, ancient minor chips, on bottom edge.
I’ve seen these discussed on Chess sites, however I only know it’s a Gaming Piece, at this point, it could easily be for Chess.
Age: Circa 10th Century A.D.
Size: W 23mm x H 41mm
Weight: 30 grams
