Indian, Tiny Embroidered Bag.
A delightful little silk embroidered drawstring bag from Gujurat, in Western India.
As well as the tiny burgundy silk pom-poms are small "shisha" mirrors, with matching silk tassels around the sides and bottom.
Handmade from silk embroidered cotton fabrics, they have an individuality that is homemade rather than Touristy or those made for export to shops in the West.
They were found in a market in Gujurat in about 1991.
To me the cord is a rather plain purple shop bought silk but it may have seemed very exotic to the maker, at the time.
However, it is authentic and not a recent replacement, toning in well with the central shisha thread.
You might consider one of these as a gift bag, if you are sending someone special a ring or smaller pair of earrings, as they have a lot of charm and weigh very little.
I think they (we have a few more) are just gorgeous as themselves but as an accessory they would be happy to serve
