Ammonite Fossil, Sterling Silver Earrings.

Sorry, these wonderful earrings are no longer available. We may have some pendants in the shop though.

Here we have a pair of Silver Earrings each with a slice of beautifully fossilized and polished, more than 65, 000, 000 year old Ammonite.

Ammonites are a large group of extinct marine cephalopods, (very similar to todays Nautilus, although all that usually remains is the shell) that first appeared in the Jurassic Period 200 million years ago
and finally met their end in the mass extinction of the Paleozoic Era,
about, 65 million years ago.

They were finally made extinct during the extinction event that also killed the dinosaurs, (the nautilus somehow survived.)

So here’s a perfect, wearable bit of History, a Mathematically thrilling “spiral”
(it’s so “Fibonacci” that you can admire and marvel at the perfection of it, as you wear it.)
The deeply glowing honey colour is like an amber, but is actually translucent stone, even revealing the internal structures.

In fact, at some level it feels like it has come from some distant Alien history,
which I suppose it really has.

A wonderful aid to meditation, putting you in touch with “past lives” (perhaps?)

Take a close look, and check out the detail of this extinct creature.
Sadly, some can’t see the magic, but the rest of us will recognise it straight away.

A friend of ours sources these wonderful specimens, dating back to one of the great mass extinctions, then uses his lapidary skills to clean and prepare them individually (finer details like legs seldom survive in the fossil.)
Then when they’re ready he gets them hand set for him in Bali, in stylish modern Sterling Silver contour hugging settings, suspended from simple earwires.

He uses refined designs that in no way compete with the detail of the subject,
in this case a thin band following the contour of the shell.

We’re hoping for another delivery of these soon, but each one is individual,
and supply is never guaranteed. So don’t hold your breath, waiting.

Check also the Ammonite Ring CR130 and the Trilobite Pendant, we may still have on this site, too.
