Ersari Turkoman Silver Cuff.

A  very worn plain silver Ersari Turkoman wristcuff, with a central rib of twisted wire squiggles bordered with a classic scallopped reinforcing design.

The silver has that sensuous worn smoothness we seek in an old used/worn Tribal Silver piece, a quality only achieved with long wear. This mellow smoothness is delightful, but just as easily it would respond magnificently to a gentle polish with a dry "Silver Polishing Cloth."

This is a medium cuff for an average to larger wrist, the internal measurement is about L 63 mm x W 48 mm.

It's 39 mm wide on the wrist, at the widest point, tapering down to two solid "teeth" guarding the gap which measures 32 mm.

If you have a medium wrist and can get through that gap you're in but there is a chance for minor adjustment, you can close it down slightly by wrapping your hand around the silver. This protects the silver, leaving the gap uncovered, whilst gently squeezing the gap together slightly. Remember you don't lock it, to avoid having to reopen it, opening and closing creates a weak spot, then it's down hill from there.

You only need to wobble a limp wrist in or out, any clenching will make it harder to get on, as your tendons tighten.

Repeated opening and closing will create a weak spot. SO DON"T !

We may still have some other cuffs of this family, just search for TC113, TC114 and TC118.

The background is the "shisha" mirrored front of an embroidered Pashtun Kurta that we have in our Textiles.

Age: Mid/Late 20th Century.

Size: L 63 mm x W 48 mm X D 39 mm.
