Kashmiri, Engraved Octagonal Brass Cup.

An old, worn “tinned” brass cup with eight sides.
With handpunched designs of swirling vines and foliage in bordered panels.
There’s a golden tone of the brass glowing through the tin where it has worn thin and a few minor knocks that are to be expected.
Avoid polishing it as you would easily remove some of the tinning and expose fresh glaring brass.
Sourced in Pakistan, could be from any of the neighbouring countries, although the foliage looks quite similar to Kashmiri papier mache work.
The only thing that is certain is that it has had long use and wear.

Age: 19th to Early 20th Century.

Size: H 67 mm x W 52 mm

Weight: 54 grams.
