Large Roman Bronze Coin Ring

Sorry, this chunky ring is no longer available. We may however, still have some similar pieces onsite.

This large oval coppery bronze Imperial Roman coin was found in Eastern Europe, then taken to Indonesia where we have had it handset into a large modern plain Sterling Silver Ring for us.

The surface is a rich copper and this coin dates from the early 1st Century. It features a bust of the Emperor Agrippa (18-11 BC) however it was actually minted in the reign of Caligula (37 - 41 AD)

It's set into a simple, smoothly organic modern ring with no decoration.

We've deliberately left an opening in the back to partially reveal the reverse of the coin, there is a  near naked Neptune standing between the usual capital "S" and  "C"

The front surface is in good condition with nice definition, the surface has been slightly polished removing most of the dark patina and revealing a red coppery tone, but still retains some green/age in the recesses.

An occasional careful polish with a dry "Silver Polishing Cloth" will bring up the shine on the silver, when it needs it.

But be careful not to scratch or polish the coin as you would only be removing the patina of age.

The rounded, quite sculptural ring will fit a larger finger size of "U" (which is about US 10.25)

You may also find Roman Coin Earrings, Pendants and Rings listed in our Antiques & Antiquities section as the coin is ancient even though tthe silver work is contemporary.
