Moroccan, Silver Hamsa.

Sorrry, this fine Hamsa is no longer available.

A very decorative silver Moroccan "hamsa" (Hand of Fatima) worn for protection and good fortune.

The raised rounded edge contains a dark oxidized background decorated with fine twisted silver wire "filigree" spirals and "s's" picked out with shiny silver dots and convex discs.

This silver filigree looks superb worn on black as the dark oxidized background appears invisible showing off the fine detail.

The wide 6 mm suspension ring would easily accomodate a choker, cord or chain.

Incidentally, the background is a "khan atlas" silk ikat "Jelak" (womans' small colourful coat with vestigial sleeves worn over the head) from Uzbekistan. There may still be some of these little treasures in our Textiles, but they are quite sort after.

Age: Contemporary.

Size: H 62 mm x W 42 mm.
