Pashtun, Beaded Wallet.

Here's a wallet from Afghanistan completely beaded with small opaque glass beads,

The "tree of life" motifs and overall design are for good fortune wealth and protection against evil, as would be expected.

These beadwork designs are obviously related and very similar to the Pashtun Beaded Serving Cloth (BM100 ) and the smaller pouch (AW101)

There are two interior pockets, one short, one long, both are closed by folding and binding with the attached tasselled cord.

These pockets are lined with recycled plastic, invisible but audible, shocking to us but sensible for tribal use, being both at hand and strong and waterproof, why not?

It would make a great gift for the bead addict or "tree of life" collector, but being a little bulky isn't that practical for actual use.

While it appears to be Pashtun, I think it's from Afghanistan, then again we got it in Pakistan.

We may still have a few similar pieces to see them just search for "beaded" on this site.
