Pashtun, Small Beaded Wallet.

Here's a small wallet or pouch (open at one end) from Afghanistan completely beaded with small mainly opaque glass beads, (the deep greens and reds are translucent.)

The "tree of life" motifs and overall design are for good fortune, wealth and protection against evil, as would be expected.

These beadwork designs are obviously related and very similar to the Pashtun Beaded Serving Cloth (BM100 ) and the Wallet (AW100)

Fringed with a sort burgundy twist and blue "Evil Eye" beads, with a silver braid and pom-poms at each corner.

Invisible, but audible, the pocket is lined with recycled plastic, sensible for tribal use, being both at hand, strong and waterproof, why not?

It would make a great gift for the bead addict or "tree of life" collector, and would be good for presenting or storing something special.

While it appears to be Pashtun, I think it's from Afghanistan, but we got it in Pakistan.

We may still have a few similar pieces to see them just search for "beaded" on this site.

Age: Late 20th Century.
