Tekke Turkoman, "Asyk" Pendant

Sorry, this item is on HOLD, should you want it for yourself email us with your details, in case it should become available at a later date.)

Classic Tekke “asyk” made of “fire gilt” silver, with a central flat oval carnelian (protection against the Evil Eye.)
This is a perfectly wearable size on a cord or chain, hole is 4mm wide,
(but would only fit on a thin choker as a curve in a straight hole doesn’t work.)

The gilt colour and swirling foliage design has a romantic Gothic feel
(YES, these ARE the same pendants as worn in “Queen of the Damned”, we actually supplied the movie . . )
The solid silver border clearly defines a heart shape, in this piece, however it is not a heart, but a point, defending the wearer.
This one is very, very similar to TP 107, but has a slightly different lighter design in the “fire gilding.”

(Oh, and the backgrounds are 19th Century William Morris Wallpaper designs, not Russian Export Cottons, however, the latter would have been influenced by whatever was popular in Europe at the time.
And I’m sure William Morris, Liberty and the Arts and Crafts movement, as a whole, would have liked this traditionally handcrafted “asyk”!)

Age: Late 20th century.

Size: W 51 mm x H 72 mm
