Tekke Turkoman, Gilt Silver and Carnelian Clasps
Sorry, these lovely little clasps are no longer available.
A pair of old Tekke “diamond” cloak hooks.
Made in “fire gilt” silver, each with a protective, central raised Carnelian “eye”, both with 3 chains, each suspending a hollow embossed silver tongue.
The Carnelian eyes have many fine surface scratches/age, and the silver has acquired a lovely old patina.
Traditionally worn to close an embroidered “chyrpy” (coat) worn over the head.
(See TC102)
They’d look wonderful, used to close a cloak or coat, fabulous on the right person.
Just sew them on, unpick them for cleaning, wildly “medieval.”
Age: Mid/late 20th century.
Size: H 92 mm x W 98 mm
Weight: 39 grams
