Yomud Turkoman, Asyk Pendant

A delightful small silver and embossed gold foil “asyk” (heart or spear shaped pendant, worn on the back, attached to the hair plaits, as protection.)
The symmetrical embossing of stamped circles, dots and crescents, filling the area on four sheets of gold foil (or to me gold washed silver) surrounding a central raised cabachon oval of Amber, or possibly deep Red Glass, dull with scratches, due to age.
A small section of the stone’s silver setting is missing (about 5mm,) but it hardly matters.
The overall effect is very Venetian/Gustave Klimt in miniature, in fact.
Very probably part of a larger multi piece hair/braid ornament, (We may have a complete example, seek.) The suspension ring (3 mm) is worn with age and wear.
Eventually it may need reinforcing, see a silver smith, but it’s fine for quite some time yet.
Until then I’d wear it on a cord or leather, chain will damage it more quickly.

Age: Early/Mid 20 th Century.

Size: W 35 mm x H 62 mm

Weight: 9 grams
