Bukharan, Silver Prayer Box

Sorry, this lovely old prayer box is on hold. However, if you're after it do let us know, it may still become available.

Nice, old Round Silver hinged Prayer Box.
With delighful, almost Victorian, inscribed and embossed borders and foliate design.
Flanked on either side, by equally ornate, hollow silver tubes with sealed domed ends. (one deliberately contains a heavy, protective rattling bead.) Originally worn as a “bazu band”, to hold a Koranic prayer, for protection, on a Man’s upper right arm.
Held by black tasselled, sliding silk cords, (cords not included) threaded through the rings at either side.
Can be worn vertically threaded with cord or chain (holes about 6 mm.),or threaded as part of a beaded choker.
Or simply use a doubled black cord to create a stunning choker, or sew it onto wide velvet ribbon . . It’s very versatile.
In excellent condition, hinged lid, with tiny rotating silver hook to lock.
Has a lovely golden patina, but a careful polish with a dry "silver polishing cloth" would bring up the richness of the detail.

Age: Early/Mid 20 th Century.
