Turkoman, Conical Silver Earrings.

Here are a pair of silver earrings, each an engraved hollow silver cone, rather like an upside down icecream cone, with a rounded scoop of icecream included. This cone hangs swinging from a hook with a hollow heart shaped silver feature set with two small turquoises (one on each face, front and back!)

Both the hollow heart (used in "dagdans") and the foliate engraving (often seen on "asyks" and cuffs) and chiselled backgrounds are characteristic Turkoman techniques, however  we got them in Northern Afghanistan, so I assume they were made by refugee silversmiths based there.

They would respond well to a gentle polish with a dry Silver Polishing Cloth, to show off the contrast between polished and engraved.

ASnd, by the way, they're not as dark as the photos imply, the last one being the most accurate.
